Eco-Friendly Oral Care Products

Our Toothbrushes are 100% Biodegradable

Most bamboo toothbrushes have nylon bristles. Many brands claim to be BPA-free but the bristles would need to be removed to be composted.

Our vendor’s toothbrushes are made from sustainable corn husk and starch. They are fully biodegradable and individually packaged in 100% recyclable materials.

Glee is Committed to the Environment

Glee Gum is a natural chewing gum made without preservatives, artificial flavorings, and colorings as well as being Non-GMO Project verified. They use natural chicle in their gum base that helps sustain the rainforest. It is sweetened with 100% xylitol, extracted from American birch and beech trees. Xylitol is a safe alternative to sugar with benefits for dental health. The boxes are wrapped in biodegradable cellophane and can be composted along with the box, itself.

Bamboo Floss

Bamboo is stiffer than regular dental floss and can dislodge hard-to-reach food particles. It cuts plaque and removes bacteria better than regular dental floss and is biodegradable. Traditional floss is made of nylon that is not biodegradable and will persist in the environment indefinitely. The impact of nylon on the aquatic environment is significant.

Greenwashing in the Dental Industry

The Sad Truth About Recycling is that Most Items Don’t Actually Get Reclaimed. Over 1.5 billion toothpaste tubes and 5 billion plastic toothbrushes are discarded worldwide each year. They end up in landfills or worse, in our oceans.

There will be more plastic than fish in our oceans by 2050
according to The Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
Traditional tubes are made of different types of plastics and it takes 500 years for a tube to fully biodegrade in a landfill.

Colgate’s New Recyclable Packaging is Made from Traditional Plastic and the Toothpaste Ingredients are Still Toxic

Traditional toothpaste contains Brilliant Blue FCF and Helidone Pink that are not only harmful to marine life, but they also remain in water and soil. Sodium pyrophosphate promotes algae growth causing an increase of CO2 released killing marine life.
